This is another recipe that no one believes vegans eat. Yea! you can go vegan and eat a delicious, and warm Lava Cake.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I developed this recipe in January. But I wanted the photo of this cake to come out perfect, with the ice cream on top melting. And I didn't have a fridge until now, so it took me a long time to upload this video on the channel and the post here on the Blog. Sorry about that ;)
A warm, delicious, small chocolate cake that has hot chocolate coming out from inside when you open it with a spoon
So let me introduce you to what we call in Brazil, a Petit Gateau, a.k.a Lava Cake. for those who don't know what this perfection of dessert is.
In French, Petit Gateau means a small cake and nothing else. So don't even try to order a Petit Gateau in France because the waiter will answer you "which one?"
That is what happened to me when I went to visit Paris and I went all over the place looking for this dessert in restaurants. I ordered the "small cake" of chocolate and ate a super bland cake that was just small. Then I found out that Petit Gateau, as we know it in Brazil, doesn't exist in France!
Petit Gateau in Brazil and Lava Cake in the USA
INGREDIENTS:
- 90g of caster sugar
- 75g of all-purpose flour (can be with rice flour)
- 35g of cocoa powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of instant coffee
- 60ml of canola oil
- 200ml of vegetable milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
I baked it for 16min at 200 °C and waited 1min and a half to unmold it. But cooking time may vary depending on the mold you use. So test the cooking time with 1 cake first. Watch the video below for the recipe step by step and special tips.
This recipe gives me 3 Petit Gateaus with my mold, but you can have up to 4 depending on the size of your mold.
